Special bonding additive for metal effect powder coatings

Jietonda® K7301 is a special additive designed for metal effect powder coatings, which can effectively prevent coating powders from agglomerating during bonding process and significantly improve the bonding effect of coating powders and metal powders. K7301 can be used in all powder coating systems, such as PES, Epoxy and Hybrid, to reduce the dosage of metal pigments and/or improve metal effect of coating film.

2. Characteristics
　 ● Improve sparkle effect of flash metal coating and mirror effect of metal mirror coatings.
　 ● Reduce the usage of metal pigment in the metal powder coating.
　 ● Prevent coating powders from agglomerating during bonding process.
　 ● Increase the bonding temperature for nearly 10℃.
　 ● Effectively improve the resistance to damp heat and salt fog of metal effect coating.
　 ● Obviously improve workability of powder coating.

3. Use method & levels
　 ● To employ“active heating” bonding machine, for example, electric heating, water bath or oil bath heating: K7301 and base coating powder were added to the hot mix cylinder simultaneously, and heated to about 65℃ with stirring. Then metal pigment powder were added into with stirring rate reduced. After base coating powder and metal pigment were bonded at constant temperature of about 65℃ for 15-25min, powder mixture was discharged into cooling mixing cylinder and rapidly cooled to 35℃ below with low speed stirring, then discharged and sieved.
　 ● To employ frictional heating bonding machine: Base coating powder were added to the hot mix cylinder and was stirred with high speed. When temperature reaches about 50℃, K7301 and metal powder were added. Continue stirring till temperature reaches about 65℃, powder mixture was discharged into cooling mixing cylinder and rapidly cooled to 35℃ below with low speed stirring, then discharged and sieved.
　 ● The use level is 0.8-1.5% by weight calculated on total formula.

4. Package & Storage
　 ● Packaging with PE lined Kraft paper bags. Net weight 20kg per bag.
　 ● Store in temperature between 2-32℃ or cool dry place to avoid caking. Keep package closed after using. Keep away from heat and fire.
　 ● Based on our experience,the shelf life of K7301 under above conditions is at least 2 years.
